When Stars Align—Orlando's Capa Comes to New York's Musket Room

A meeting of the culinary minds between the gastronomy world's fabulous females.

It's not every night that MICHELIN Star chefs come together for a one-night-only extravaganza. However, last night at The Musket Room, chefs Mary Attea and Camari Mick joined forces with Malyna Si of Orlando's Capa for a divine evening marrying eastern edge with southeastern flair. The reason for the dinner was to celebrate all that Orlando has to offer—in addition to a certain theme park—with haute edge. Presiding over the evening was Mayor Buddy Dyer joined by his wife, First Lady of Orlando Susie Pinson Galloway Shields. Beginning with cocktails in the Musket Room's private courtyard, guests including Bon Appétit's editor-in-chief Dawn Davis, CBS Sunday Morning contributor Martha Teichner, and VOGUE's Lilah Ramzi mingled over canapés and La Caravelle rosé champagne.

Afterwards, Danielle Hollander, CMO of Visit Orlando shared illuminating insights about Orlando including its popularity as being the most visited spot in the United States. Of course, once the elegant dinner prepared by chefs Attea, Si, and Mick began, it was easy to see why. Embracing the season, the evening began with a white gazpacho before progressing onto an equally scrumptious foie gras mousse both prepared by Attea. Complementing the flavor profiles and building off the first courses, chef Si showed her skills with an elegant Spanish octopus and Adobo marinated filet highlighting her and Capa's Latin-influenced steakhouse ethos.

And while everyone including Instagram's Helena Suric, Rita Jammet, and Salvatore DiBenedetto (better known as @thegrubfather on Instagram) were lingering and laughing over their bites, it was Mick's Basque cheesecake that acted as the evening's perfect final punctuation. But not before guests were treated to a take-home bag filled with treats from the Musket Room's sister restaurant Raf's, caviar from Capa, and some entertainment courtesy of the Four Seasons Resort Orlando. A magical evening proving the city that never sleeps can always use a dose of southern charm.
