The Sühring Twins Cook Up A Special Tasting Menu For Blancpain

For this upcoming Valentine’s Day, German twins Thomas and Mathias Sühring of two MICHELIN Starred Sühring have crafted a 6-course tasting menu inspired by the fine craftsmanship of Blancpain timepieces. The special menu will be available from 14 February to 13 March 2022.

“Mathias is like me in the sense that he is determined. He loves what he does and loves creative work, but he’s much more German than me—he’s very organized, strategic and punctual.”

Speaking of each other back in 2018, what the German twin chefs Thomas and Mathias Sühring told us when they first earned two MICHELIN Stars in MICHELIN Guide Thailand 2019 only reinforces their love for cooking. This ongoing love affair is clearly exhibited in the haute cuisine served at the cozy house in Soi Yen Akat in Bangkok where Sühring sits, a testament to the two MICHELIN Stars they’ve retained for the past 4 consecutive years.

From that day until now, Thailand’s leading German restaurant, Sühring, has continuously maintained its outstanding ability to showcase modern German cuisine. Inspired by family recipes and flavours from their childhood, the twin chefs have deliciously combined those memories with contemporary European influences to celebrate the beauty of fine German cuisine. By bringing out each other’s remarkable talents, the two brothers have injected their artfulness into divine dishes that are renowned all across the globe.

It’s been a year since the twin chefs have become part of Blancpain’s legendary Art of Living philosophy by joining the brand’s circle of culinary friends, carrying on the time-honoured tradition alongside fellow MICHELIN-Starred chefs from around the world.

“We are honoured to have joined Blancpain’s circle of culinary friends,” said the twins. “Both Blanpain and Sühring share the same values and philosophy, and we truly believe in the embodiment of tradition and innovation.”

“Blancpain watch is more than just a timepiece, it is an art masterpiece on the wrist,” said Chef Mathias. Chef Thomas added, “We are wearing our watches in the kitchen every day. They have become parts of our daily lives. It feels very special to be wearing them.”

To celebrate this Valentine’s Day, the Sühring twins have come up with a 6-course tasting menu inspired by the fine craftsmanship of Blancpain timepieces. This special menu will be available from 14 February to 13 March 2022.

“For the new tasting menu, we have meticulously chosen rare ingredients that need to be handled with expertise. Some are only available in tune with their seasons,” explained the two chefs. “Every dish embodies ‘Innovation is our tradition,’ a shared value Sühring and Blancpain encompass in the same pursuit for excellence.”

One of the exclusive highlight menu is Aki “Ossetra Imperial” Caviar. King crab is served with caviar from the Caspian Sea. Flavours are enhanced with toppings of quinoa and seaweed, the latter which adds a touch of umami and undertones from the sea. The star dish features Atlantic Turbot & Blue Lobster, which showcases the finest catches from the Atlantic, served with poached blue lobster. It is artfully paired with smoked clams and a white wine sauce, rich with butter and aromatic bay leaf oil. This special meal concludes with roasted hazelnut ice cream, served with a hazelnut praline made out of 70-percent dark chocolate. Playful textures feature an addition of apricots and a sweet, tantalising aroma from the creamy bourbon vanilla sauce.
