Slovenia, a new food-lovers’ destination covered by the Michelin Guide collection

In March 2020, Michelin will unveil its first selection dedicated to Slovenia’s gastronomic delights. In addition to being an increasingly popular destination for tourists seeking culture and a well-preserved natural setting, the country has become a food-lovers’ treat that has captured the attention of Michelin Guide reviewers.

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides, explains: “Ever since the very first Michelin Guide was published nearly 120 years ago, our mission has been to discover the finest culinary destinations around the world. Slovenia is undeniably one of them, thanks particularly to its abundant natural resources which enable extremely high-quality ingredients to be produced and then enhanced by chefs across the country.”

Forever on the lookout for local know-how and culinary traditions, Michelin Guide reviewers especially appreciated the bountiful fresh and local produce that has allowed an entire generation of chefs to express their talent and creativity. Every one of Slovenia’s 24 regions is home to a specific gastronomy, each one offering a particular experience in a way that is respectful of local natural resources.
The Michelin Guide is consequently pleased to confirm that it will be revealing its selection of Slovenian talents at a ceremony scheduled for March 2020.

All restaurants will be selected by Michelin Guide reviewers in accordance with the proven methodology that is applied the world over with a view to providing gourmets with dependable recommendations wherever they are.

Slovenia will be joining the thirty-some other destinations covered by the Michelin Guide portfolio which was recently expanded to include selections devoted to California and Beijing.
