With summer fast approaching, we thought we’d give you a head’s up on the restaurants that all your foodie friends are going to be talking about in the coming months. From those that have just opened their doors to those still adding the finishing touches, these new London restaurants have caught our eye with their intriguing concepts and the top-level talent behind them. So, whether you’re a local or a visitor, ensure these spots are on your must-visit list so you can stay ahead of the curve.

Myrtos

Opens May

It’s always exciting to see a talented chef break out and set up their own restaurant, making Myrtos such an intriguing prospect. Asimakis Chaniotis, who was Executive Chef at Pied à Terre (London’s longest-standing MICHELIN Star), will soon launch his own project in South Kensington, taking inspiration from his Greek heritage. With London having recently gained its first Greek MICHELIN Star with OMA, we’re hoping Myrtos will further delight the capital’s Hellenic food enthusiasts.

Dué

Opening Date TBC

Potentially representing the next step in the evolution of London’s mouthwatering Mexican dining scene, Dué comes from the mind of Jesús Durón, who was previously the Executive Chef at Two-Star Pujol in Mexico City. We’re unsure what other influences Durón will incorporate at Dué, but such talent arriving in London is always exciting, especially when he’s joined by restaurateur Lindsay Jang, who launched MICHELIN-Starred Yardbird in Hong Kong.

Legado

Opening Late Summer

The latest project from Nieves Barragán Mohacho – behind the incredibly popular and MICHELIN-Starred Sabor – Legado will take influences from across Spain and is part of the new Montacute Yards development in Shoreditch, the vibrant East London neighbourhood known for its alternative edge. Like Sabor, Legado is backed by JKS Restaurants, the hospitality powerhouse who are probably behind some of your favourite London restaurants, such as Hoppers, Gymkhana and Kitchen Table.

Tartar Bunar

Opened April

Yet another new opening in the ever-expanding Shoreditch dining scene, Tartar Bunar is a shining example of London’s vast global gastronomic tapestry. Aiming to bring Ukrainian food to a British audience, it focuses on dishes from southern Ukraine and is named after Chef Alex Cooper’s hometown. He and co-founder Anna Andriienko are seasoned restaurateurs, operating several successful venues in Ukraine.

Tom Brown at The Capital

Opened April

A new restaurant from Tom Brown would be an enticing prospect in any case – given the quality of the MICHELIN-Starred dishes at now-closed Cornerstone and the amount of fun he’s still having at oyster bar The Pearly Queen – but this opening has extra resonance, as The Capital Hotel is where his career began under the tutelage of Nathan Outlaw. The seafood-centric menu includes dishes like turbot, smoked eel and black truffle.

Duchy

Opens May

Those Londoners who have been missing Shoreditch restaurant Leroy since it closed last year will be delighted by its semi-rebirth as Duchy. Founded by two Leroy alumni, Alex Grant and Simon Shand, it will take over the same premises, hopefully retaining the laid-back atmosphere and friendly welcome of its predecessor. The menu is said to incorporate influences from around Europe, with brown crab arancini and anchovies with lardo among the dishes teased.

Brasserie Constance

Opening Date TBC

It’s not just Brasserie Constance that you should be excited about opening, but the whole of the Fulham Pier development. Situated beside Craven Cottage, the old-school stadium of Fulham FC, and looking out onto the River Thames, this hospitality and leisure complex is aiming to be a go-to destination in West London. Brasserie Constance is the highlight for us, of course, as it’s overseen by Adam Byatt from MICHELIN-Star Trinity, a chef with many years of top-level experience.

The Kerfield Arms

Opened April

You can never have enough top London pubs – which is why the opening of The Kerfield Arms is music to our ears. Located in Camberwell, the South London neighbourhood with a relative scarcity of top restaurants, it’s the new project from the team behind The Baring. That’s a great sign, as that first venture offers cooking with imagination and finesse, wrapped up inside a classic pub setting.
