A Delicious Spread Of Restaurant Deals At GastroMonth 2018

The second edition of the Michelin Dining Series sees more than 20 participating restaurants with specially curated menus.

The second edition of GastroMonth comes hot on the heels of the launch of the MICHELIN Guide Singapore 2018 last month. The month-long dining event from 1 to 30 September features specially curated menus by a selection of Michelin-starred and listed restaurants in the latest guide.

This year’s line-up sees 24 participating restaurants from Michelin-plated fine-dining Indian restaurant Rang Mahal to two-Michelin-starred sushi-ya Shoukouwa. Each will offer specially created lunch or dinner menus at great value, with some up to 40% off the usual price.

At Rang Mahal, chef Milind Sovani presents traditional Indian flavours in a new light with his five-course dinner menu priced at $118++. Sovani’s creations are colourful and creative, but still uphold the integrity of the quality produce he uses and traditional North Indian flavours. For example, the Masala Rice Sushi looks like a Japanese maki but is made with Ambemohar, a sticky rice from Maharashtra in western India prized for its mango blossom scent, cooked with Madras curry powder and rolled with crispy vegetables.

For another dish, premium Irish duck breast is rubbed with a mix of fragrant spices including cinnamon, cloves, cardamoms and sankeshwari chilli, and roasted in the tandoor till the skin is crisp and golden-brown. Served with a creamy Trichur curry and broccoli garlic pesto, the Spiced Roast Duck (pictured in banner) is a shining example of contemporary Indian cuisine.

The five-course lunch at two-Michelin-starred Shisen Hanten is pocket-friendly at $78++ and features chef Chen Kentaro’s signature Sichuan cuisine in the luxurious setting of Mandarin Orchard Singapore. Tuck into the likes of Foie Gras Chawanmushi With Crab Roe Soup, Stir-fried Beef And Cashew Nuts With Red Pepper and the famed Michelin inspector-recommended Chen’s Mapo Doufu served with Hokkaido rice.

Bib Gourmand establishment New Ubin Seafood is also participating in GastroMonth 2018 with seven dishes priced at $70++ per person. At this casual joint, Singaporean zichar is redefined but still as shiok, with familiar dishes like Old Punggol Style Mee Goreng and Salted Egg Squid sitting alongside elevated mains of Premium New Zealand Lamb Rib and Home Smoked Pork Collar.

These are just some of the wide spectrum of restaurants in the GastroMonth 2018 selection, from Italian (Garibaldi, Forlino and Osteria Art) to French (Saint Pierre, Chef’s Table and Brasserie Gavroche), Japanese (Shinji, Sushi Ichi and Shoukouwa) to Peranakan (Candlenut and The Blue Ginger Restaurant).

In collaboration with Singapore Tourism Board for Grand Prix Season Singapore, Formula One ticket holders will enjoy a complimentary race-themed welcome drink when tickets are presented at the restaurants from 7 to 16 September.
