MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
One Star: High quality cooking
This is the kind of retreat where one can sink in and never leave. It exudes elegance with a bit of romance and quirk—thanks to walls covered with ornate escutcheons and whimsical paintings. Against these dark pebbled backgrounds, find plush oversized booths, banquettes, and mirrored light bulbs.
Chef Lee Wolen turns out a widely appealing modern menu that uses global accents. Appetizers, like delicate ricotta ravioli with summer corn and smoked buttermilk, or an intriguing plate of lightly cured kampachi crudo with green strawberry and kohlrabi, thrill. For entrées, the roasted dry aged Rohan duck matched with roasted shallot and plum jam is a standout.
Finally, hazelnut and chocolate mousse with caramelized condensed milk ice cream is delightful.
