Bib of the Week: Miss Mamie's Spoonbread Too

Southern style comfort cuisine north of Central Park.

In case you need a refresh, the Bib Gourmand distinction is awarded to restaurants that offer multi-course meals at reasonable prices. And while all are unique and the “price” varies from country to country, the standard for quality remains the same.

That’s why every Friday, we’re going to be highlighting our Bib of the Week; we're highlighting where to go, what dish to order, the best time to stop by, and everything in between. So whether it’s the natural biodynamic wines and fluffy Neapolitan-style pies of Una Pizza Napoletana in New York, or the hand ground buckwheat soba from Gimpachitei Yazawa in Japan, our selection of Bib Gourmand spots will leave both you and your wallet satisfied.

Central Park attracts millions of visitors annually as the sprawling 843-acre space is one of the largest urban parks in the world. And while it's become a symbol of New York, it also has lots of haute spots nearby to grab some grub. Just north of the park is Miss Mamie's Spoonbread Too, a long standing institution serving up delicious, Southern style dishes.

And while they've welcomed everyone from music royalty to Presidents, they also had our Inspectors pop by for a visit. Check out their take here, and below, we chat with the team on what you need to know before you visit.
