The fifth edition of the MICHELIN Guide in Thailand will extend its coverage to include the ancient city of Ayutthaya, or Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, one of Thailand’s major tourist attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. As the fifth city added to the new edition: MICHELIN Guide Bangkok, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket & Phang-Nga 2022; Ayutthaya will be highlighted as a remarkable gastro-tourism destination for all ages with its perfect blend of old glamour and new charm, as well as a diverse range of local attractions to cater to all interests.
In addition to the Star Revelation, the ceremony will also reveal a range of special award recipients:
The MICHELIN Guide Young Chef Award, presented once again by Blancpain, is given to a young chef from a MICHELIN Starred restaurant with exceptional talent and great potential, while the MICHELIN Guide Service Award, presented by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, recognises an individual who has shown exceptional service and hospitality skills.
The MICHELIN Green Star is given to one or more restaurants that outstandingly embody and embrace sustainability in its day-to-day operations, through such efforts including recycling, food waste reduction, or promotion of local and seasonal ingredient sourcing. Winners of these awards are selected based on research and data collected from the MICHELIN Guide inspectors’ fieldwork.
