Bib Gourmand: good quality, good value cooking
Flooded with sunlight, fitted with a comfortable bar and sporting a private dining room, this restaurant has no shortage of space. Swing by to pick up a salad or sandwich midday but return in the evening when Daises opens for their popular house-made pastas like pappardelle with mushroom ragu or rigatoni with pork ragu and fermented tomato remain prime attractions. Onion dip with house-made ruffles is still on the menu and still a must-order. A bakery in the back gives this team even more room to play with sweets, and diners can choose between a dazzling selection of pastries, ice creams and sorbet at the meal’s end.
"We continue to refine our practices and build upon those that we already have in place. Kitchen produce scraps are returned to the farm to feed the chickens where we then get the eggs. The remainder goes into the compost pile. We are making that compost available through our farmers’ market stand for purchase to use in the home gardens of our customers. We continue our extensive fermentation and preservation program, that utilizes scrap produce in the bar and pastry program."
