Chef Angie Mar doesn't do things small. The Le B proprietor and chef often hosts lavish parties and dinners at her West Village boîte, however, for the kickoff to Lunar New Year this year, she swapped Gotham for Sin City with a one-night-only guest residency at Delilah at the Wynn Las Vegas. Sprinkled amongst the bites were an equally glittering crew: designer Bach Mai, sisters TK Wonder and Cipriana Quann, and stylish young things Blake Abbie, Christine Chiu, and Jessica Wang.
And while Mar's guests were greeted by a palace-worthy spread, the evening was a triumph of culture and cuisine. Below, we get Mar's exclusive snaps from inside the evening.
When I arrived at the Wynn, I was greeted by the marquee—a seven-story tall version of our Lunar New Year Party! It was such a surreal moment for me and my team. And what a welcome. To be greeted by name by the amazing team from Wynn that is responsible for making our party a reality was completely overwhelming and meant so much to me.
On Saturday evening, my team and I did a collaboration dinner with Chef Sarah Thompson at Casa Playa. It was such an incredible evening with amazingly talented chefs. Sarah has just been nominated for a James Beard, and it was just wonderful to be in the kitchen with her.
Before the party began, I went to the kitchen to check on the team. As much as I love hosting, I always find myself gravitating back to the kitchen. Chef Christopher Lee, who is a fellow New Yorker, and the VP of Restaurant Development, was in the kitchen with our respective teams. This is the second collaboration I’ve done with him, and it is always an honor.
I then made sure to catch-up with Elizabeth Blau, a powerhouse in the Las Vegas hospitality scene who introduced me to the Wynn team a while ago, and it is because of she and Chef Lee that our Lunar New Year party was able to happen in Las Vegas this year. Truly so grateful to them both.
As the party began, the excitement grew. Everyone in their places…
What would a party be without a speech. It was my absolute pleasure to thank our sponsors, our guests, and Wynn for being the most gracious hosts.
A carving station for suckling pig, it was just stunning.
For me, a good party always ends up in the kitchen. In New York, its quite often that my guests will end up hanging out in the kitchen with the cooks, and getting bites of delicious food, straight off the line. This was of course no different. We ended up sneaking in the kitchen for a bite of something sweet.
