MICHELIN Guide San Francisco 2019 Bib Gourmands

There are eight new Bib Gourmand-designated restaurants in the latest guide.

A week ahead of the star announcement, the MICHELIN Guide San Francisco 2019 has released its Bib Gourmand selection. Covering 22 types of cuisine, 68 restaurants serving up high-quality food at reasonable prices are given the designation in this year’s installment, eight of which are new.

Brought to you by the team behind Ippuku in Berkeley—also a Bib Gourmand—Soba Ichi, which focuses on excellently crafted, small batch soba, is a new entrant to the 2019 guide. Other newly-designated eateries doling out Southeast Asian fare include Tiyo Shibabaw’s Teni East Kitchen in Oakland's Temescal neighborhood and Nyum Bai in Hawthorne, where chef Nite Yun confidently delivers a personal take on Cambodian cuisine.

To much fanfare, partners Tamer Hamawi, Elise Rosenberg and Emelie Khilstrom expanded their Gran Electrica from Brooklyn to Napa Valley, replete with the same serious dose of fun, energy and tacos. Michelin inspectors are happy to see that the quality is consistent from coast to coast.

Chef and co-owner Jo Lerma-Lopez’s Luna Mexican Kitchen in San Jose and El Molino Central in Sonoma, both showcasing delicious Mexican cuisine, are also new entrants to the guide.

Reem Assil and Daniel Patterson’s Dyafa is an Oakland waterfront stunner. While the location is gorgeous, the food stands out thanks to chef Reem’s specialty warm breads, flavorful dips and shareable Middle Eastern fare.

Up in Yountville, Ciccio is packed for a reason—from the pizza to the pasta, the quality of execution was especially impressive this year, warranting a Bib Gourmand designation for the 2019 guide.

The star announcement for the MICHELIN Guide San Francisco will be released on Thursday, November 29. Congratulations to all Bib Gourmand-designated restaurants. View the full list below.
