MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Although located in the same building as its sister restaurant Mélisse (via a separate garden entrance), in lieu of its sibling’s tasting menu-only format, the offerings here afford more choice, with a more modest prix-fixe alongside à la carte options. The cuisine still displays Chef Josiah Citrin's signature combination of French technique with an abundance of California's seasonal produce, focusing on updated takes on classically continental flavors with modern, global touches.

Lovers of luxury will revel in the caviar selection and opulent truffle add-ons. But even without a shaving of the prized tuber, a dish of mushroom agnolotti with comté and smoked potato cream is an indulgence, as is the chef’s signature fresh capellini with lobster Bolognese.
