The MICHELIN Guide now features more than 7,000 hotels worldwide, evaluated according to five criteria of excellence: architecture and interior design, quality of service, personality and character, value for money, and contribution to the local experience. Want to learn more about the MICHELIN Key? You'll find everything you need to know here.

France’s 2025 hotel selection includes 24 Three-Key hotels, 38 Two-Key hotels, and 142 One-Key hotels. Discover below the complete list of all MICHELIN Keys in France.

Palaces and Villas: Distinctly French Luxury

The "palace" designation is awarded by the French government itself, with commission members evaluating France's most luxurious hotels to ensure they offer specific amenities and services (spa, multilingual staff, concierge service, etc.) and contribute to the country's image of excellence. Within the walls of each, you’ll invariably find butler service, high-end spas and sumptuous design, whether your style leans classic or decidedly contemporary.

Of the 31 official palaces in France, many have earned at least One MICHELIN Key, and several feature in our Three-MICHELIN-Key selection. Some are steeped in history (Four Seasons George V), others embody modernity (Le K2 Palace), still others uphold tradition (La Réserve Paris). Regardless of their style, they all represent the pinnacle of hospitality anywhere in the world.

But palaces aren't the only hotels to shine in France. Villas — sumptuous private mansions with authentic charm — possess an air of royalty, as is the case with Villa Gallici, a new One-Key recipient in 2025. Set in an 18th-century bastide near Aix-en-Provence, this hotel places great importance on its design, which echoes that of French châteaux.

Villa René Lalique in Alsace also makes its debut on the MICHELIN Keys list, likewise combining bold luxury with a distinctive style that showcases excellent craftsmanship and refined taste in art and design.

Châteaux and Vineyards: The Best of the Countryside

Encompassing the very image of French hospitality, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey and Château de la Gaude are perfect illustrations of blended châteaux and vineyard establishments, while another highlight — Les Sources de Caudalie in Bordeaux — is among the top wine and wellness offerings in the world, built on a natural hot spring, operated by the renowned beauty brand Caudalie, and on the grounds of the Château Smith Haut-Lafitte vineyard.

In the heart of the Luberon, near Bonnieux, Mas les Eydins, distinguished with One-MICHELIN-Key, stands out for its picture-postcard Provençal setting, lavender fields included. The experience is personalized by the married couple who serve as hosts, and who demonstrate precisely how to remake a traditional farm into the most refined boutique accommodation.

As its name suggests, Hôtel du Couvent in Nice is housed in a former convent, while Domaine de Rochevilaine in Brittany occupies a 13th-century abbey. Within these historic buildings, find the stays both in heritage and immersive in their regional settings.
