Thursday was a big day for our nation's capital. The MICHELIN Guide Washington, D.C. 2019 selection introduced two new one-starred restaurants (Bresca and Siren by RW) and included the city's first three-starred restaurant (The Inn at Little Washington). Chefs, restaurateurs and other prominent D.C. residents gathered at the French ambassador's residence in the Sheridan-Kalorama neighborhood for a high-spirited evening of celebration.
At a VIP reception earlier in the evening, attendees listened to remarks from Ambassador Araud, Joanie Martin (Michelin North America's chief administrative officer) and chef Fabio Trabocchi (whose restaurants supplied much of the food). Later in the evening, Michael Ellis gave what would be his final remarks as the international director of the guides and recognized the chefs in this year's selection.
