Where to Eat on Christmas Eve and Day in Chicago

Here are five Michelin-recommended restaurants for you to celebrate the season.

Christmas holiday Michelin Guide

If you're anything like us, then you probably haven't done much in terms of holiday prep either. That's where we can step in to lend a little guidance this Christmas season (when it comes to the food part, at least).

Here, five Michelin-recommended restaurants to hit up for an epic Christmas celebration:

Travelle

After you've opened presents on Christmas morning, head to Travelle for a "decadent Yuletide brunch." The epic Christmas buffet will have more than 10 stations with practically something for all tastes. Dishes include caramel pecan French Toast with lemon curd and toasted pecans; pan-roasted duck breast with spiced plum glaze; a smoked salmon spread; garlic butter Tomahawk rib eye steaks; Oaxaca and poblano pepper tamales; ramen with ginger, soy sauce, chile and toasted sesame seeds; and more! They're also open in the evening with a prix fixe menu for dinner.

Prime & Provisions

This swanky steakhouse in the Loop is open on Christmas Eve for dinner. The restaurant is offering an à la carte menu, so you can follow our inspectors' advice: "A starter of chewy rosemary-sea salt monkey bread whets the palate, while rosy pink slices of slow-roasted bone-in prime rib, rubbed with a crust of fragrant herbs, take a classic hoagie to new heights." There will also be holiday-inspired dishes, such as oven-roasted black bass with fregola sarda, artichoke hearts, sundried tomato and wild mushroom pan sauce, or peppermint chocolate roulade with eggnog gelato and vanilla bean crème anglaise.

Nico Osteria

Chef Paul Kahan's Italian restaurant in the Gold Coast is hosting a Feast of the Seven Fishes dinner on Christmas Eve. The prix fixe version goes for $100 per person and includes dishes like stuffed calamari with seafood sausage, tomato risotto and head-on shrimp; crab scarpinocc with Manila clams, leek, fennel and neonata; and grilled ocean trout with brown butter bagna cauda, tatsoi, winter citrus and hazelnut. End the meal with a bûche de Noël with dark chocolate sponge, chocolate mousse and peppermint gelato.

Bistronomic

This French spot is open on Christmas Eve for both brunch and dinner. If you need a little liquid courage to deal with the in-laws or want to fill yourself to the brim with Yuletide cheer, Bistronomic is offering bottomless mimosas with two courses for $35. At dinner, there's a three-course prix fixe menu for $70 per person with options such as crispy house-cured duck confit, prime beef short ribs and Baked Alaska.

Pequod's Pizza

The legendary Chicago pizza joint is operating on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from the hours of 11:00 a.m. to midnight. Do as Kevin McCallister would do for the holiday (or any day) and fill up on your favorite deep-dish and thin crust pizzas. There's also cheesy garlic bread, mostaccioli and Italian beef sandwiches.
