The first time I meet Chet Lo, it's on Zoom just after his spring 2023 show in September. He's still riding the high of (another) stellar collection but already prepping for next season. He possesses the type of innate curiosity, energy, and vision shared by chefs, however, he translates this onto the runway instead of the plate. The bright colors, the distinctive textures, and directional silhouettes mirror the dishes coming from London's gastronomic talents. It's clear from that very first chat, that Lo finds inspiration everywhere. For the New York City native, it's London's creative freedom, openness, and diversity that continually fuels his designs. With London Fashion Week kicking off today (and on the eve of his show), we chatted with Lo about where he dines—you can catch him and fellow bright young thing Harris Reed grabbing dinner together—where he hangs out, and what MICHELIN Guide restaurant best exemplifies his designs.

Energetic, creative, colorful.
How would you describe your label's aesthetic in 3 words?
Spiky, sexy, daring.
What do you like most about London?
I love the calmness and the creative freedom that London gives.
What is your go-to casual spot?
I always seem to end up at Decimo in The Standard Hotel! I love the vibe there.
What is your go-to fine dining spot?
I love, love, love Brat. It's such a great vibe and such good food.
What are some of your favorite places to visit in London?
I love the aquarium, because I honestly wanted to be a mermaid when I was a kid. I like to keep in touch with my roots haha.
What's your favorite hotel for family to stay at in London?
Besides my guest bedroom, I'd love for my family to stay at The Standard.
What's your favorite hotel bar in London?
It would be The Hoxton! It's right around the corner from mine and its such a nice ambient feel.
If your designs were a MICHELIN Guide restaurant, which one would it be?
Probably The Sea Hackney!
