With dozens of international cuisines represented across a dining scene that boasts over 85 MICHELIN-Starred establishments and 45+ Bib Gourmands, London is quite simply one of the best places to eat around the globe. With new London restaurants constantly opening and familiar favourites always evolving, here are the Inspectors’ latest additions to the MICHELIN Guide.
Four restaurants have joined the MICHELIN Guide’s London selection this month and, in typical London fashion, they cover four different cuisines. You can embrace the Mediterranean-esque London weather with Greek favourites; discover a range of Japanese dishes; find your new favourite Indian restaurant in the southwest suburbs; or embrace nostalgia with unabashed British classics.
Willett’s, Chelsea
Modern BritishThe legendary Cadogan hotel, an 1887-vintage townhouse that’s now decked out in the Belmond group’s signature luxury, provides the setting for this proudly British bistro deluxe. The likes of pan-fried sea trout with St George mushrooms and a beurre blanc made with English Chapel Down wine have a confidently classic feel, while the dessert list is throwback central, with trifles, sticky toffee pudding and even a ‘bon bon trolley’ to finish.
Clio, Marylebone
GreekWith the sun beating down and temperatures in London soaring past 30°C, now is the perfect time to complete the Mediterranean vibes with a meal in this talk-of-the-town Greek restaurant. The likes of grilled octopus and rabbit stifado populate a menu that feels like a beam of Hellenic sunshine, while the lively atmosphere and well-priced Greek wines make it easy to see why the place is so popular.
Aki, Marylebone
Japanese ContemporaryThe owners behind the original Aki in Valletta, Malta, have put considerable investment into this attractive banking hall restoration. The result, filled with impressive contemporary artworks, is a delight of a dining room that makes a fine setting for all sorts of Japanese goodies. There’s an extensive sushi selection, alongside tempura and dishes from the robata grill – such as black cod caramelised with miso and shio koji.
Koyal, Surbiton
IndianA great spot for those living in the outer reaches of southwest London, this warmly run Indian restaurant sits in a prime spot just off Surbiton High Street. With one of its owners being Chef Nand Kishor Semwal from Dastaan in Ewell, you can expect flavoursome dishes that span India’s varied cooking styles. Well-judged spicing is key to the kitchen’s skillset, with clean, fresh flavours coming through in each dish.
