A total of 61 restaurants were selected for the 2022 selection of Bib Gourmand. Four restaurants were newly added, each serving barbecue (Ggupdang), ramen (Menten), dim sum (Tim Ho Wan), and Italian food (Eggs & Flour). In particular, Korean style dumplings and Chinese dim sum were highlights from the 2022 Bib Gourmand list, reflecting diversity of the restaurant scene in Seoul.
Notably, more than 40% of the 2022 selection of Bib Gourmand eateries — 25 out of the total of 61 restaurants — offer a variety of noodle-related dishes. Iconic noodle dishes from different global cultures, including Korean soul food Kalguksu, Naengmyeon, as well as Italian pasta, Japanese ramen, udon, soba, Thai noodle, and Taiwanese beef noodle soup, are among the selections, reflecting the love for noodles among Korean diners.
The Bib Gourmand distinction is given to restaurants that offer quality food at a reasonable. It has been steadily gaining popularity since the official introduction of pictogram ‘Bibendum’ in the MICHELIN Guide in 1997. Bib Gourmand is awarded to places which serve great food at affordable prices for each city (35 EUR for Europe, 40 USD for the United States, and JPY 5,000 for Japan). In case of Seoul, Bib Gourmand stands for restaurants that offer dishes at an average price of less than KRW 45,000 KRW.
