Few figures in fashion are known by one name, but Carine, as in Roitfeld, is one of these beings. The Parisian-born former Editor of VOGUE Paris (now rebranded as VOGUE France) has cut her teeth in the fashion industry for decades, but is always challenging convention and bringing her unique, glamorous appeal to a myriad of products and projects. CR Fashion Book, Roitfeld's bi-annual glossy most recently featured Beyoncé in the latest issue, the 24th. Her eponymous fragrance and home collections continue to sell out in droves, while her books—Irreverent, The Little Black Jacket (co-authored with Karl Lagerfeld), and Fantasies—are found in only the chicest libraries and coffee tables. Below, the iconic Carine shares where she goes in Paris to shop, eat, and take in the atmosphere.
You've built a career in the publishing world. Are there any bookshops in Paris that you like to go to?
7L. I have a lot of memories with my dear friend Karl Lagerfeld. It's also here that I recently had my book signing for my latest book, Fantasies (Rizzoli publications). I also like OFR where you can always find the latest CR Fashion Book.
Paris is full of fantastic museums. Do you have a favorite?
Palais Galliera. I love to go there to see the latest fashion retrospective or to take a moment of sun out in the gardens.
What's your go-to date night spot?
Langosteria at the Cheval Blanc hotel.
Do you have a restaurant you love in the city?
Le Relais Plaza. I love to go and eat at the bar. I often go there with my son Vladimir when he visits Paris or for business meetings.
