Just a few kilometres from the south coast and from Funchal, and with the peace of being surrounded by nature, the lovely Casa Velha do Palheiro hotel delights guests with its more than two centuries of history and its location among verdant golf courses. The restaurant, in a classic-colonial style with a completely open kitchen, serves modernised Portuguese cuisine that elevates Madeiran flavours to a higher level, drawing on seasonal ingredients supplied by local farmers and fishermen. Here, Chef Gonçalo Bita Bota presents his concept through three tasting menus called Agapanto (Agapanthus), Camélia (Camellia), and Glicínia (Wisteria) (available depending on the day of the week).
