Upstairs at Landrace, Bath
Landrace is first and foremost a bakery, which specialises in sourdough bread from stone-milled, locally sourced grains. Downstairs you’ll find a shop, selling delicious baked items, while upstairs is their bijoux restaurant, open for cakes, pastries and coffee in the mornings; and modern, seasonal British dishes at lunch and dinner.'Seasgair' by Michel Roux Jr, Fort William
It’s set in two elegant dining rooms in Inverlochy Castle, surrounded by wonderful gardens, and diners can enjoy a cocktail and canapés in the Grand Hall as a harpist plays. Fine Scottish produce is showcased on the set 5-course menu. Book the Mary Shaw table in the library for a communal dining experience.Kushi-Ya, Nottingham
The name gives a clue as to the style of cooking at this Japanese restaurant, which specialises in kushiyaki: skewers of meat and vegetables cooked over a charcoal grill. The precisely cooked, eye-catching dishes come with plenty of flavour and a reasonable price tag. They don’t take bookings at lunchtime, so arrive early! The Mount, Henley-in-Arden
Take one of the prettiest high streets in the country, add a charming modern conversion of a characterful beamed pub and put a celebrated chef called Glynn Purnell at the helm, and you have a recipe for success. There’s a bar, a buzzy bistro and a fab terrace too; menus offer delicious pub dishes made from local produce, and there’s a well-priced wine list to accompany.Seasonality, Maidenhead
This bright, airy restaurant is personally run by experienced chef owner Wesley, who can be seen working at an island in the middle of the room. It started out as a produce shop and provided dine-at-home boxes during lockdown, which are still available at weekends. The ingredient-led dishes are full of colour and flavour.1863, Pooley Bridge
This welcoming bistro is set in Pooley Bridge, a pretty village on the shores of Ullswater in the Lake District. First built as the village blacksmith – in 1863 – it later it became the post office and is now an immaculately kept restaurant with rooms. Modern British dishes come with suggested wine pairings; ask for a table in the front room.Saint Francis Provisions, Kinsale
Experienced restaurateur Barbara Nealon has taken charge in the kitchen here, and whether you’re a tourist or one of the lucky Kinsale locals, you should be heading to this laid-back spot for dinner sometime soon. Sit at the kitchen counter to enjoy natural wines and boldly flavoured, Mediterranean-inspired small plates. The Princess Royal, Bayswater and Maida Vale - London
Owned by Cubitt House, this pub combines original features with a fresh, bright look – and has some of the best outdoor dining space in the city. Cooking follows the Italian philosophy of bringing together a few, good quality ingredients and letting the flavours shine through. Four guest bedrooms are a bonus. The Dining Room at 27, St Ives
Grant Nethercott owned and ran 'The Alba' in St Ives’ former lifeboat house for 18 years, before taking on the role of head chef at this intimate guest house restaurant. The tasting menu showcases superb local ingredients, including some terrific Cornish seafood. Ask for one of the tables with a sea view.Rising Sun Inn, Altarnun
Buoyed by the success of the Barley Sheaf at Gorran Churchtown, Tim and Terri Kendall have taken over a second venue – this time in north Cornwall. The old moorland pub is hugely characterful, with flagged floors, timbered ceilings and exposed stone walls – and the modern pub dishes coming out of the kitchen are carefully cooked, boldly flavoured and original.Tropea, Birmingham
Owners Ben and Kasia are rightly proud of their bright, buzzing neighbourhood restaurant, where tasty Italian sharing plates are the order of the day. Be sure to book ahead – and go when you’re hungry as you’ll want to try everything. The homemade pasta dishes are a must-order.Il Borro, Mayfair – London
When Nobu vacated Berkeley Street they left big shoes to fill – and not just in terms of size; it was also a go-to destination for a glitzy, international crowd unhindered by fiscal considerations. The Ferragamo family and their Tuscan estate were the ones to take on the challenge and they’ve created a big, bold bistro, with flavours and prices to match.Discover which restaurants were previously added to the Great Britain & Ireland Guide, in the months of March, April, May, June, July, August and September…
