It may have something to do with the crowd of artists, movie stars and sophisticates who have made this their perch. Or, it could be the ambience defined by rich, seductive colors and loud, high-energy music. Either way, it's all very hip and very cool at La Banane. The cooking is equally lavish, featuring a well-stocked raw bar, wagyu steaks and plenty of truffle and foie gras in between. Start your evening at the elegant bar with a perfectly chilled shrimp cocktail before digging into Salt Spring mussels with Normandy cider and crème fraiche. Beef flatiron set in a delicious sauce au poivre is a classic done right. And to finish, don’t miss the Gâteau à la banane, a sweet cake accompanied by salted caramel ice cream and caramelized bananas.
