MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
One Star: High quality cooking
In a sleekly modern space that is undoubtedly one of the city's most well-appointed dining halls, Chef/owner Brandon Jew charts a new path with his uniquely Californian take on Chinese cuisine. He deploys top-flight ingredients to create original dishes that celebrate the Cantonese cooking and the Bay Area's seasonal bounty. The stylish bar area up front supplies memorable cocktails (as does Moongate Lounge, located above the restaurant), and also offers a familiar à la carte menu for walk-in diners. A separate prix fixe menu is exclusive to reserved tables, offering a light repast that can (read: should) be supplemented by signature, family-style items like roast duck with burnished skin or snapper served with sizzling ginger and scallion.
