Located in the most select area of Taipei City with a height of more than 500 meters, Taipei 101 is not only the tallest building in Taiwan, but also the 11th tallest building in the world (as of 2022). Since its completion, the tower has been a famous landmark and must-see attraction among Taiwan’s sights.
Its unique appearance is inspired by the number eight, an auspicious homophone in the local language. The floors are stacked on top of one and another, 8 storeys at a time, to resemble a strong bamboo stem, signifying a steady rise, flexibility, and longevity.
The building comes to life every evening, illuminated by lights that change every day, with special light shows during festive occasions. The observatory on the 89th floor is 382 meters high, where one can enjoy the cityscape of Taipei and experience the beauty of Taiwan via ultra-high-definition images at the immersive Stunning Taiwan exhibition. Visitors can cap it all off with food and shopping at the mall downstairs.
