7 Restaurants To Celebrate Mother's Day 2017

Take this weekend to spend quality time with mum at these places that are pretty as a picture.

Mother's Day — it's an occasion that comes around every year, usually calling for ribboned boxes of chocolate or lavish gifts of jewellery. This year, we put the spotlight on some of the prettiest restaurants in town, to unwind and spend quality time at with mum. Here are seven of them.

SPRMRKT Kitchen & Bar

With its pretty-in-pink palette, gold accents and chic marble tops, stepping into this upscale SPRMRKT outlet housed within STPI – Creative Workshop and Gallery is a treat for the eyes. The restaurant gets more of a feminine touch this Mother’s Day, as the bar is transformed into a pop-up bouquet store lined with gorgeous seasonal blooms. On the menu are brunch treats of bourbon and maple-glazed bacon pancakes and chicken pot pie. Fill up on these before popping over to STPI next door for an afternoon of art. #02-01, STPI - Creative Workshop and Gallery, 41 Robertson Quay. Tel: 9736-4170.

Pollen

Located within the Flower Dome at Gardens By The Bay, Pollen is a destination in itself where one dines surrounded by lovely blooms in a garden-like setting. For Mother's Day, executive chef Steve Allen has come up with a new appetiser of sauteed scallops, paired with poached and roasted duck or confit halibut. There's also a ladies-only lunch menu featuring dishes lighter on the palate. #01-09, 18 Marina Gardens Drive, Tel: 6604-9988.
Empress

Flooded with natural light from the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows, Empress is a prime spot for basking in sunshine while soaking in views of the Singapore river. For brunch, there is unlimited dim sum with a top-up option for free-flow champagne; dinner, on the other hand, is where heartier dishes such as crispy-skinned suckling pig and giant grouper are served. A feast fit for a queen, either way. 1 Empress Place, Tel: 6776-0777.
The Summerhouse

Located further off from town at Seletar Aerospace Park, The Summerhouse is worth the drive to escape the hubbub of the city. The black and white bungalow exudes an European colonial charm, while the sprawling property has an edible garden peppered with herbs and flowers perfect for a leisurely stroll through. The four-course Mother's Day menu is inspired by the vibrant shades of Kate Spade New York, which means dishes like wagyu beef cous cous plated in rich hues of saffron yellow and bright pinks, with Kate Spade-inspired table décor to match. 3 Park Lane, Tel: 262-1063.
Lewin Terrace

Nestled amidst the lush greenery of Fort Canning Park is Japanese-French fusion restaurant Lewin Terrace. Opt for alfresco dining on the balcony of this charming black and white bungalow, while tucking into a 5-course menu with delicate yet tasty dishes of sweet prawn and sea bream tartare. Parties of 3 or more who have made advanced bookings also get a bouquet assembled by Japanese floral artist Dan Takeda, who has worked for Chanel, Christian Dior and Van Cleef & Arpels. 21 Lewin Terrace, Tel: 6333-9905.

Jade Restaurant

Gone are the formal dimly-lit interiors so common of Chinese restaurants. Since its recent revamp, the pretty new Tiffany-blue walls decorated with native bird species at Jade Restaurant sets the mood for a dim sum lunch in a well-lit setting. On the menu are nourishing foods such as braised bird's nest with truffle egg white, though the char siew pau - infused with the fragrance of osmanthus blossoms - is a surprising and delicious combination. Level 1, The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, Tel: 6733 8388
The White Rabbit

What with juggling kids, work and household matters, the best gift mum can get is an undisturbed meal. At The White Rabbit, the spacious garden is more than just a pretty space – it’s also a playground for kids, complete with an old-school swing set. This means mum gets to enjoy digging into cuts of succulent US prime rib at the carving station, while the little ones are entertained with candy floss stations outside in the garden. 39C Harding Road, Tel: 6473-9965.
