Paris, Curated: Carine Roitfeld’s Guide to Style and Elegance in the City of Lights

The esteemed fashion editor, stylist, and former model opens her address book to the City of Lights.

Few figures in fashion are known by one name, but Carine, as in Roitfeld, is one such icon. The Paris-born former Editor of Vogue Paris (now rebranded as Vogue France) is a fashion industry veteran. Yet, she continues to challenge convention and bring her unique, glamorous vision to new projects.

This year, Roitfeld's bi-annual glossy, CR Fashion Book, featured Beyoncé on the cover of Issue 24. It was the music icon’s first appearance in the magazine in over a decade and spoke volumes about the publication’s continuing cultural and fashion influence. Roitfeld’s eponymous fragrance and home collections continue to sell out, while her books—Irreverent, The Little Black Jacket (co-authored with Karl Lagerfeld), and Fantasies—are found only in the chicest libraries and adorning the most stylish coffee tables.

Carine’s taste is unparalleled. Below, she shares with the MICHELIN Guide her preferred Paris spots for shopping, dining, and soaking in la vie Parisienne.

You've built a career in the publishing world. Are there any bookshops in Paris that you frequent?

7L. I have a lot of memories with my dear friend Karl Lagerfeld. It's also here that I recently had my book signing for my latest book, Fantasies (Rizzoli). I also like OFR where you can always find the latest CR Fashion Book.

Paris has no shortage of fantastic museums. Do you have a favorite?

Palais Galliera. I love to go there to see the latest fashion retrospective or to take a moment of sun out in the gardens.

Paris is a restaurant-lovers paradise. Does any restaurant hold a special place in your heart?

Le Relais Plaza. I love to go and eat at the bar. I often go there with my son Vladimir when he visits Paris or for business meetings.

In the most romantic city in the world, what's your go-to date night spot?

Langosteria at the Cheval Blanc hotel.
