Live Update: New Restaurants in the MICHELIN Guide – March 2022

Hot off the press, the MICHELIN Guide Inspectors reveal some of their favourite additions to this year’s Great Britain & Ireland Guide

Following the launch of  the MICHELIN Guide Great Britain and Ireland 2022 last month, our Inspectors went straight back out on the road searching for more new restaurants worthy of a place in the MICHELIN Guide selection. The distinctions – Stars, Bib Gourmands and Green Stars – will be unveiled at an annual launch ceremony as usual but, once a month, from now until then, the Michelin Inspectors will reveal some of their favourite new additions to the Great Britain & Ireland Guide.

These restaurants feature both on the website and the app – and they’re easy to spot, as they’re highlighted by a ‘New’ symbol. Some of these newly recommended restaurants will go on to earn distinctions at the Michelin Star Revelation ceremony, so why not give them a try and see which ones would be on your shortlist?

For March, we are pleased to share five of the inspectors' favourite new additions...

Library Street, Dublin

Library Street, Dublin

Fun, lively and bursting with passion, Library Street is a great addition to the ever-evolving Dublin dining scene. The atmosphere is electric and it’s smiles and laughter all round, both from the team and diners alike. Sit at counter beneath striking dried flower artwork or at one of the lovingly restored, 100-year-old ash tables. Menus follow a sharing principle, with bold, original dishes arriving as they’re ready – and there are plenty of local, seasonal gems to be found, be it beetroot from the McNally Family Farm, oyster from Dooncastle or langoustine from Porcupine Bank.

Set in the Megaro Hotel, opposite St Pancras Station, this former bank has a faux-industrial style and features hundreds of butterflies on the ceiling. Start with a cocktail in subterranean cocktail bar Hokus Pokus before taking a seat on one of the strikingly coloured banquettes. Chef Manuele Bazzoni hails from northern Italy and the modern menu takes its influences from the region; the understated, intricate dishes are neatly presented and come with bold flavours and interesting textural contrasts.

Hyssop, Glossop

Hyssop, Glossop

Hyssop started life as a pop-up in a local pub but is now firmly ensconced in its own premises on Glossop High Street. Arrive early for a cocktail or two in the cosy bar before making your way upstairs to dine. Well-judged dishes have a classic base and subtle international overtones, and the vegetable dishes show some great creativity. It’s not only the ingredients that are top quality but there’s plenty of skill here too, both in the preparation, as well as in the clever marriage of flavours and textures. The super friendly service team know the menu inside out and will guide you in the right direction.

The Three Fishes, Mitton

The Three Fishes, Mitton

This was Nigel Haworth’s first pub, which he owned back in 2004 and later sold. Now he’s back, having repurchased it mid-2021, and this time it’s all about sustainability and a farm-to-fork ethos. He’s refurbished it in a contemporary style – using existing furnishings and repurposed materials – and this sustainable ethos continues in everything they do. They have a polytunnel, raised beds and a kitchen garden; they raise their own chickens; and they only use suppliers with a similarly ethical approach. Modern dishes with a British heart and local influences are served by a charming team.

This Japanese restaurant’s location on the top floor of the Page8 Hotel makes it a great choice for a date: there are two terrific rooftop terraces – the best of which overlooks Trafalgar Square – while the elegant, airy interior makes for a lovely lunchtime spot. The wide-ranging à la carte menu features traditional Edomae sushi as well as some impressive signature dishes. Don't miss the yuan miso black cod – and make sure you save room for dessert.
