2017 MICHELIN guide Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo Released

The third edition of the guide unveils one two-starred restaurant and 18 one-starred restaurants.

The MICHELIN guide 2017 for Brazil, focusing on the country’s two biggest cities Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, has been released. The guide was first launched in Brazil in 2015, and this is its third book.

Same as its last two editions, no restaurant has been awarded three star this year, and Alex Atala’s D.O.M continues to be the only two-starred restaurant in the guide.

In the one star category, 18 establishments receive the accolades. In which, Picchi in São Paulo, Laguiole and Oro in Rio are the new names that have entered into the prestigious selection this year.

The guide also sees 33 Bib Gourmand awards, including eight new entries. They are Bottega del Vino in Rio, and Bistrot de Paris, A Casa do Porco, Niaya, La Peruana Cevicheria, Oiu, Tanit and TonTon in São Paulo. Bib Gourmand, named after the official company mascot for the Michelin Group Bibendum, is a rating that recognises friendly establishments that serve good food at moderate prices.
