5 Michelin-recommended Restaurants With Stunning Views Of Bangkok

Eating with your eyes first takes on new meaning at these Bangkok restaurants with food to please the palate and views to please the eyes.

Dining in Bangkok comes with more than scrumptious food and drinks — a number of restaurants in the MICHELIN Guide Bangkok 2018 come with unrivalled views and ambience. From panoramic views of beautiful architectural skyscrapers to sunset scenes of the Chao Phraya River, these restaurants offer a tantalising glimpse of Bangkok as you dine.

Le Normandie
Two stars, MICHELIN Guide Bangkok 2018

Le Normandie at the Mandarin Oriental features luxurious setting with a true Parisienne ambience. Since its establishment in 1958, the restaurant has been renowned for its contemporary French cuisine, five-star service and awe-inspiring view out across the Chao Phraya River. Chef de cuisine Arnaud Dunand Sauthier, who has horned his culinary skills since he was eight, took the helm of the kitchen brigade in 2012. With his culinary identity rooted in his native Savoy region in the French Alps and in the coasts of Brittany, he has brought ingredients from his hometown and put modern spins on classic recipes. Enjoy a wide selection of haute couture dishes, wines and the river glimmering in moonlight.

Mezzaluna
Two stars, MICHELIN Guide Bangkok 2018

Situated inside the golden dome on the 65th floor of lebua hotel, this contemporary restaurant offers a panoramic view of the city’s horizons — featuring both city and river views. Mezzaluna serves haute cuisine created by chef Ryuki Kawasaki, a Japanese chef who specialises in French cuisine and has learnt cutting-edge culinary techniques from “master chefs” around the world such as Paul Bocuse, Pierre Gagnaire and Joel Robuchon. The dishes are made of Japanese ingredients from chef Ryuki’s hometown such as sazae (sea snail), ayu and Niigata Murakami wagyu beef A5. Apart from the food, Mezzaluna offers several wines from Italy, France, New Zealand, Austria, Portugal and Japan to pair with the seven-course menu.

La VIE
Plate, MICHELIN Guide Bangkok 2018

Located in the heart of the city centre, La VIE on the 11th floor of VIE Hotel Bangkok is where the view is complemented by the contemporary French-Japanese cuisine. Dishes are inspired by the guest chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants who cook at the restaurant regularly throughout the year. Fresh ingredients are a top priority here, with the menu constantly adapting to the seasonal availability of produce from local farmer’s markets and ingredients shipped in from Japan and France. A lot of herbs and vegetables are grown in the hotel’s rooftop garden — so freshness is guaranteed.
Supanniga Eating Room (Tha Tian)
Plate, MICHELIN Guide Bangkok 2018

Supanniga Eating Room’s riverfront restaurant is located right opposite of the Temple of Dawn where you can watch the warm rays of the setting sun. The Thai restaurant serves several types of food with the authentic Thai flavors — with all signature dishes inspired by the recipes of the owner’s grandmother. Some dishes come from time-honoured recipes, such as Moo Cha Muang or stewed pork with herbs and cha muang leaves. For special occasions, board a unique evening Supanniga River Cruise along the Chao Phraya River where you can experience views of the illuminated temples and bridges along the way while feasting on a gourmet meal from the Supanniga kitchen. Or you can simply sip on champagne on the cruise and get off at the port in front of Supanniga to taste the food at the restaurant.
Scarlett
