Supper Series: 5 Satay Stalls In Singapore Open Till Late

Bet you never knew there was a vegetarian satay stall around town.

Charred juicy bits. Smoke-kissed meat. Easy to nibble at while walking along the street. Satay is an ubiquitous snack found in many street food stalls around town, and is well-loved for its tastiness and convenience. Here are five stalls open until late if you have a late-night satay craving.
Kwong Satay

Opening Hours: 5pm to 11pm. Closed on alternate Wednesdays.


Here’s the only reason you’ll need to head down to this treasured gem of a stall: Pork Belly Satay. The sticks of pork belly are smoke-kissed with charred edges, dripping with savoury juices. The meat here is also marinated with saffron to give it a distinctive, fragrant aroma.

Victor’s Vegetarian Food

Opening Hours: From 4pm to 12am, closed on Mondays.


Satay is all about meat on sticks, but Victor’s offers a tasty option for vegetarians. The mock meat here is grilled well, so the tender meaty cubes are laced with a delicious smoky flavour and crispy black bits. Dip these into the accompanying peanut sauce that is just the right balance of creamy with a hint of spice.

Haron Satay
1220 East Coast Parkway, Stall 55 East Coast Lagoon Food Village, 
Opening Hours: 2pm to 11pm, Closed on Mondays.


This popular satay joint comes with a side of sand and sea (no sun, because it is for supper after all). Since owner Mr Haron passed away last year, the stall is now run by his two daughters. The same selection of chicken, mutton and beef satay remains, along with the chunky peanut gravy served in a small bowl.

Fang Yuan Satay
Block 75, #01-25 Toa Payoh Food Centre, Lorong 5
Opening Hours: Daily, from 6pm to 12am.

Most satay stalls will serve their skewered meats with peanut sauce, but what makes Fang Yuan Satay stand out is the cold grated pineapple added to the creamy peanut paste. The tangy fruit helps cut through the richness of the sauce, and is the perfect foil for the juicy cubes of meat dipped into it.

Opening Hours: Weekdays 7pm to 1am, Weekends 3pm to 1am.


The bustling CBD food market might seem like a tourist trap, but not stall 7 and 8. Besides the usual chicken and beef skewers, the stall also sells prawn skewers. These grilled crustaceans come with the shell on, so you get all the wonderful rich juices to suck on while nibbling on the satay.
