Celebrate The World Cup Without A Hangover With These 4 Mocktails

Beer and football go hand in hand, but you can still get into the football spirit without alcohol.

As football fans all over Singapore gather together to watch the remaining World Cup matches, drinking beer and alcohol as a way to bond over the games is common. For those who prefer not to imbibe alcohol, however, Seedlip, the world’s first distilled non-alcoholic spirit, has come up with various mocktail recipes that are free of alcohol but are equally fun and tasty. With four different mocktail recipes, there’s certainly something for everyone. And the best part? No hangover the next morning.

1. For The Stressed: Seedlip Garden And Tonic

Ingredients:
50ml Seedlip Garden 108
125ml Indian Tonic
A handful of peas

Add Seedlip Garden 108 to Indian tonic over ice and top it off with some peas for garnish.

Not everyone is a fan of bitter flavours, but bitter food allegedly cleanses the body and helps to boost metabolism and relieve stress. For those stressed by the nail-biting matches, the Seedlip Garden and Tonic mocktail is a perfect choice as it contains bitter Indian tonic. It also comes with peas, making it a healthier choice as peas aid digestion and weight loss. Feel the stress melt away as you sip this drink after a long day at work.

2. For The Romantic: Watermelon Sour

Ingredients:
50ml Seedlip Garden 108
20ml basil and watermelon shrub
A dash of egg white

Basil and watermelon shrub ingredients (500ml):
1 small watermelon
A handful of basil leaves
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup white sugar

To make the basil and watermelon shrub, mix all the ingredients and leave overnight before straining to obtain the shrub. To make the drink, add 20ml of the shrub to Seedlip Garden 108 and a dash of egg white, then shake it up before straining.

Patience is key in making this mocktail, as it involves a double-strain method, so get started on it the night before a big match. Juicy watermelon gives this mocktail a sweet taste and a vivid red colour, while basil leaves provide a contrast of savoury and peppery flavours, ensuring that you’re never bored when drinking this mocktail. A dash of egg white also adds an interesting thicker texture to the beverage, distinguishing it from other mocktails.
