A real institution in the canton of St Gallen. Since 1974, the Kalberer family name has been synonymous with exquisite fine dining. Son Roger has now taken over the reins and continues to run the kitchen in the same vein. Dishes brimming with robust flavours are complemented by a fabulous wine list including a decent selection of Swiss wines and an abundance of French labels. Friendly and well-drilled service team. The cosy, refined interior also hits the right notes, with the small Nidbergstube doing full justice to the historical setting of this elegant patrician house dating back to 1811. This restaurant is named after the Nidberg hill in the village, where wine has been grown since the 15C.
