MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Great views and good food are not always found in the same place, but it’s still surprising that a city with so iconic a skyline has so few restaurants with wonderful vistas. Danny Meyer’s stylish establishment, some 60 floors up, changes that. However, he also understands that eventually even the most enthusiastic voyeur looks down at their plate, so the views are more like an added extra rather than the restaurant’s raison d'être. Classic French cuisine is the mainstay of this open kitchen. The chefs know when to leave a dish alone so there’s nothing on the plate that isn’t making a contribution. Fish, like buttery turbot with grapes and almonds, is handled well. For dessert, look no further than the fluffy soufflé with a decadent butterscotch sauce.
