Overall Experience
Scores are on a 20-point scale, from verified guest reviews. The quality score helps ensure that our selection stays fresh and vital.
F. Scott Fitzgerald may have said that there are no second acts in American life, but we can all think of plenty of exceptions. The Dominick may have had a troubled past, thanks in no small part to the involvement of our nation’s most famously divisive real-estate developer, but the slate has been wiped clean — it’s got some new owners, it’s been given a new name, and now this Soho stunner is ready to be seen for what it is: a stylish, luxurious boutique hotel with a stellar Spring Street location and commanding views of downtown Manhattan and the Hudson River.
The rooms are swanky, with floor-to-ceiling windows to maximize the view and Fendi Casa furniture to maximize the luxury quotient; they start out reasonably large but the suites quickly cross over to “sprawling.” The style throughout is an homage to the clean lines of mid-century modernism, culminating in the cocktail bar, Mr. Jones, which is steeped in Americana from the Mad Men era. Bar d’Eau, out by the pool deck, is an open-air fair-weather treat, and while the Dominick prepares to launch a new signature restaurant, guests enjoy all-day dining in the Mezzanine and Café Mezz, as well as 24-hour room service.
