In early June, the sunny shores of Huntington Beach played host and backdrop for the live unveiling of the MICHELIN Guide California 2019 selection, the first statewide red guide for the United States. Guests including top toques and media alike gathered at the Pasea Hotel & Spa to watch the event unfold while feasting on dishes from Michael Cimarusti (Providence, Los Angeles), Mourad Lahlou (Mourad, San Francisco), Wolfgang Puck (CUT, Los Angeles) and Melissa Perello (Octavia, San Francisco).
“It is truly a celebration—a celebration of dreamers and pioneers,” says Caroline Beteta, president and CEO of Visit California.
“California is a world-class destination with its distinct personality. It’s a unique culinary landscape with seven restaurants retaining their three-star [status] in the new California guide,” adds Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the MICHELIN Guides. “And we all feel at MICHELIN that [this] is only the very beginning.”
