The brand new MICHELIN Guide Beijing 2022 selection was unveiled on 24 January through an online MICHELIN Star Revelation ceremony, adding 1 two-Star and 4 one-Star restaurants to its new selection.
“Beijing has demonstrated its charm and its potential as a great gourmet destination,” says Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guides. “The inspection team remains very positive about the selection of Beijing and very much looking forward to seeing new faces and evolution in the industry.”
4 New One-Star, 1 New Two-Star Restaurants
Four new restaurants — Furong, Ling Long, Lu Style (Anding Road) and Opera Bombana — joined the one-Star list in the 2022 edition, bringing the total of restaurants with one MICHELIN Star to 29.
Meanwhile, restaurant Chao Shang Chao makes its debut in the MICHELIN Guide selection with two MICHELIN stars, joining Jingji and Shanghai Cuisine in the two-Star category.
The 2 restaurants which were awarded three Stars in the last edition — vegetarian restaurant King’s Joy and Taizhou cuisine restaurant Xin Rong Ji (Xinyuan South Road) — maintain the highest distinction for another year in the 2022 edition.
King’s Joy also retains its MICHELIN Green Star for another year for its commitment to sustainable gastronomy. The MICHELIN Green Star highlights restaurants that have established systems of operations or sustainable practices that are environmentally meaningful.
18 Bib Gourmands
2022 sees 1 new addition to the Bib Gourmand list, Zen, with another 17 restaurants making it for another year. The Bib Gourmand highlights restaurants within the MICHELIN Guide selection that offer attractive quality-price ratios, with establishments offering three courses for a maximum price of RMB300, excluding drinks, in Beijing.
The Young Chef Award and Service Award for Beijing 2022
In addition, the MICHELIN Young Chef Award for the Beijing 2022 edition was awarded to Chef Jason Liu from the newly promoted one-Star restaurant Ling Long and the Service Award to Chen Yalin from newly two-Star restaurant Chao Shang Chao.
