The MICHELIN Guide will host an official launch event of ‘The MICHELIN Guide Seoul 2022’ on November 25th, 2021 and reveal the new selection of restaurants of 2022.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, the 2022 MICHELIN Star Revelation will take place as a live digital event instead of an on-site awards ceremony. The live digital event will be on-aired on Naver TV, the MICHELIN Guide’s official Youtube channel and Facebook account, giving opportunity for everyone to enjoy the moments of star selection.
The MICHELIN Guide Seoul 2022 will introduce the best restaurants in Seoul, including MICHELIN starred restaurants offering world-class excellent cuisine, the Bib Gourmand that recognizes restaurants that offer quality cooking with best value-for-money, and the MICHELIN Green Star which spotlights restaurants committed to developing a more sustainable gastronomy. The 2022 selection of the MICHELIN Bib Gourmands will be announced one week prior to the starred selections.
Under the theme of ‘The World in Seoul,’ the MICHELIN Guide Seoul 2022 highlights the commitment and development of restaurants striving to provide pleasure and new experiences of gourmet to domestic diners and the public despite the COVID-19 crisis where overseas travel is restricted.
In addition, the MICHELIN Guide discontinues referring to and using the MICHELIN Plate distinction and pictogram to simplify the presentation of selections to customers from the MICHELIN Guide Seoul 2022. However, the restaurants that have met standards of the MICHELIN Plate will continue to be in the list as ‘the MICHELIN Guide selected restaurant’. It will be applied to all MICHELIN Guide platforms including website and mobile application.
The MICHELIN Guide will present the MICHELIN Awards to recognize the talents and commitment of restaurant teams who put all their passion and know-how to create unforgettable gastronomic experiences. This year, it will announce two MICHELIN Awards with its partners; the MICHELIN Mentor Chef Award together with Market Kurly, a new official partner of The MICHELIN Guide Seoul, and the MICHELIN Young Chef Award together with Blancpain, a global partner of MICHELIN Guide.
The official partners of the MICHELIN Guide Seoul 2022 include Genesis, Blancpain, Naver, Nespresso, Market Kurly, and the event partners of this year are Taittinger and San Pellegrino.
First published in 1900, the MICHELIN Guide is a culinary guide book that started as a review guide with information on various restaurants and accommodations for motorists. Today, the MICHELIN Guide still selects the best restaurants with its strict and fair criteria assessment and has earned its reputation as the most privileged guide for restaurants and hotels by industry practicians and readers, all over the world. MICHELIN Guide has introduced Moscow this year in its destination, bringing the total number of titles to more than thirty-seven.
