Shenzhen’s rapid emergence as one of China’s economic powerhouses means there’s seemingly no end to the demand for high-end, business-friendly accommodation. You may already know the Residence G name from their stylish, efficient Hong Kong outpost — and if you do, you might be surprised by the relative luxuriousness (and the sheer square footage) of Residence G Shenzhen.

Part of it may simply be that space is at less of a premium in this mainland city, but it’s clear all the same that this is a different sort of hotel. While it may not scale the same heights as Shenzhen’s more extravagant luxury hotels, it’s a place where “residential-style” means more than just an electric kettle. Even the most basic “Good” rooms start out fairly large, with a proper table to work at and all the electronics you need for a decent (temporary) home office. Studio apartments are worthy of the name, adding kitchenettes, and the one-, two-, and three-bedroom “Great” apartments have full kitchens and all the space you could need.

For a slightly more social venue there’s the Clubhouse Restaurant & Lounge, for anything from a proper meal to a cup of coffee while you work. And to fully unplug there’s Energy Sport & Wellness, with a pool, a gym, a basketball court, and an outdoor terrace.
