Situated in inland Slovenia just a few miles from the border with Croatia, this is one of the most interesting restaurants in the region. Here, highly experienced owner-chef Jure Tomič has created an excellent network of suppliers from all over Slovenia. His meat and fish dishes are prepared with a modern, precise and technical touch that is unfussy and focuses on bringing out the full flavour of his ingredients. Traditional recipes and ingredients are reinterpreted with a personal twist: examples are the plum extract served with duck and the sweet “butter, honey and milk” dish that takes the ingredients of a typical local dessert and creates something new and original. You’ll have no problem finding the right wine to accompany your meal from the extensive wine list.

MICHELIN Guide Slovenia : local wines and fine cuisine, a winning combination
Wine has a special place in Slovenian culture. For proof of this, you need look no further than St Martin's Day, an annual folk festival that celebrates the arrival of new wines on 11 November, when wine fever gives rise to festivities in vineyards across the country, from the Mediterranean to the Hungarian border. Around this date, most restaurants are fully booked and serve specific menus, in which wine plays the starring role. This is just one example of the close ties between gastronomy and viticulture in a country that has a very strong food-loving culture.
