For some, New York is the epicenter of the world where ideas are born and thrive. For native New Yorker Tommy Hilfiger, Manhattan is his home and continual source of inspiration. "New York is defined by its unmatched style, pulsating energy, and unwavering optimism," says Hilfiger. "As the melting pot of America, it's both diverse and vibrant." That ethos translates into Hilfiger's approach to enjoying the city, but also his collections and campaigns, most notably, the figures he's selected to represent the different facets of his label.

Kendall Jenner, Sofia Richie Grainge, and the Stray Kids all appear in distinct spring 2024 campaigns highlighting the breadth of Hilfiger's collections, similar to how he and wife Dee take in the culinary delights of the city. "Kendall rocks the modern American vibe effortlessly. She's got this cool, laid-back style that mixes classic and contemporary pieces flawlessly," adds Hilfiger. This description could easily apply to a Hilfiger city staple, Three MICHELIN Key winner Aman New York which the designer loves for its spa and unparalleled luxury and service.

Trendsetter Richie Grainge emerged as one of the year's most coveted style stars, a moniker that's led to her appointment as a Hilfiger womenswear ambassador. "Sofia brings a unique flair to everything she wears, embodying confidence and sophistication," says Hilfiger. Not dissimilar would be Hilfiger's preferred lunch boîte, Three MICHELIN Star Le Bernardin, which the designer appreciates for its consistency and deliciousness.

However, leave it to Hilfiger to get global rock stars the Stray Kids to front and style the new season pieces. "[They] embody a unique blend of talent, energy, and global appeal that perfectly aligns with the spirit of our brand," says Hilfiger. "Their authenticity and passion for what they do shine through in everything they touch, making them fantastic artists to feature."

So what's next for the man who dresses America (and the world)? "The Tommy Jeans International Games collection reimagines our sporting and collegiate roots with a fusion of nostalgia and style," shares Hilfiger who cast athletes including pro-footballer Stefon Diggs, Formula 1 driver Mick Schumacher, and college basketball guard Deja Kelly. The goal was to celebrate the upcoming Olympics but with an American slant. "This collection celebrates unity and athleticism with a modern twist." And much like Hilfiger's New York picks, it's all about classics with a hint of today's freshness.

Food

The Grill is always a must visit when in NYC. The food is incredible, and the atmosphere brings back the elegance of the 1950s.

We always make a pit stop at Viand when we’re in town. We like their breakfast and coffee best.

Le Bernardin is a great spot for business lunches. They constantly rank as one of the best establishments in the city, so you know you’re going to be taken care of and served a delicious meal.

Joe’s Pizza on 40th and Broadway has the best slice in the city – no contest.

The best place for a perfect cocktail:

Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle serves amazing vodka martinis.

The best place for a classic, traditional NY meal:

You can’t go wrong with food from Katz's Delicatessen. The pastrami sandwiches and matzo ball are outstanding. It’s the most authentic NY experience you could ask for.

What is the perfect spot for a date night?

Dee and I love Nobu New York Fifty Seven for date night. Its ambiance provides the ideal setting for us to unwind and reconnect after busy days.

What’s the ideal family friendly spot?

Cipriani on 59th Street and Fifth Avenue is one of our favorite dining spots, and Sergio is, hands down, the best maître d' in all of New York City.

The best place to be seen:

Carbone is the epitome of a "seen and be seen" hotspot. You’re always guaranteed to run into someone.

Which museum is your must see in New York?

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is my go-to museum in NYC because of its vast collections – you can spend hours exploring and still uncover new exhibits, no matter how many times you've visited before.

Where’s your hidden gem in the city?

Having a home in The Plaza Hotel for years, I found solace in Central Park's proximity, making it convenient to escape the city's hustle and bustle by crossing over 57th Street. Belvedere Castle atop Vista Rock offers stunning panoramic views of the park and city skyline, making it a hidden gem for both its architecture and scenic vistas.

The best place to hide:

Aman spa has state-of-the-art facilities dedicated to wellness that allow guests to completely disconnect and focus on themselves.

Art

Dee and I love checking out Christie's and Sotheby's during auction season. It's a fun way for us to see what's up for grabs and soak in the buzz of the auction floor.

Shopping

Bergdorf Goodman Men's and Women's have great offerings from the latest collections.

Health

The Atria Institute provides full service, 24/7, coordinated healthcare – it’s the future of medicine. It’s run by scientists, researchers and doctors that focus on personalized, proactive care instead of the typical reactive approach. I believe they are going to change the healthcare system.

Hotels

The Aman NY is our home away from home in NYC.  The hotel has an unparalleled blend of luxury, serenity, and impeccable service – it’s exactly the type of hospitality that my wife and I seek out when traveling.
