Hotel Esencia Celebrates Three MICHELIN Keys:
It’s been a good year for Kevin Wendle, the founder of Hotel Esencia. The property recently received Three MICHELIN Keys and to celebrate, hosted a dinner at Beefbar with a curated menu plucked straight from the award winning property. “This has been a truly momentous year for Hotel Esencia, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our team and the guests who make it all happen,” said Wendle. “Tonight, we celebrate them as much as we celebrate these honors.” Taking in the evening was an equally glittering crowd including Queer Eye star and author Antoni Porowski, Bergdorf Goodman’s Linda Fargo, and countless others.Koloman’s Second Anniversary:
After bringing down the house and changing up the gastronomy scene in his first year, Markus Glocker upped the ante with year two at his Nomad haute boîte, Koloman. “Koloman has really matured into the vision we always had: a restaurant for the surrounding neighborhoods, a place everyone wants to come for a business breakfast, after work drinks, weekend brunch, as well as of course a great dinner, which is still our core,” says Glocker. “We live with real New Yorkers, we serve real New Yorkers.” Throughout the crowd were fellow chefs and culinary icons including Aquavit’s Emma Bengtsson, LaCaravelle’s Rita Jammet, and Amanda Freitag. “Two years is a great milestone for any restaurant in New York City,” says Glocker. “Having a big party to celebrate is a great chance to connect with best guests, many of whom have become friends, as well as with hospitality professionals. And we always want to toast with wheelbarrows of champagne and a oversized Croquembouche tower!”Taste of Asia:
Co-chairs Simon Kim (of COTE and COQODAQ), Wen Zhou, Michael Chung, and Phillip Lim brought the heat for the third annual Taste of Asia. The event raised almost $1.4 million supporting the Madison Square Park Conversancy and Apex for Youth’s programs focused on health and wellbeing of underserved AAPI youth. With 1,000 guests and 40 restaurants participating—think Atoboy, C as in Charlie, Jazba, Nami Nori, and Sushi Noz, to name a few—the evening was a triumph of culinary culture.Hero image: Getty Images + Eric Vitale Photography
