In case you need a refresh, the Bib Gourmand distinction is awarded to restaurants that offer multi-course meals at reasonable prices. And while all are unique and the “price” varies from country to country, the standard for quality remains the same.
That’s why every Friday, we’re highlighting our Bib of the Week; where to go, what dish to order, the best time to stop by, and everything in between. So whether it’s crystal shrimp dumplings served with a side of A.P.C. denim in Washington, D.C., or craft ramen in California, our selection of Bib Gourmand spots will leave both you and your wallet satisfied.
Initially a passion project conceived by jazz musician Luca Fadda, this Greenpoint gem has transformed into one of Brooklyn’s most delicious (and wallet-friendly) Italian spots. The place is uniquely Italian—from the Renaissance-friendly shiny marble tables and lush plants to the carb-loaded menu revolving around a medley of breads and pastas like spaghetti alla carbonara. Oh, and did we mention? The bread is baked on-site. Talk about 'molto delizioso'.
But don’t take our word for it, check out what our Inspectors had to say here, and below, learn from the team on what you need to know before you go.
What was the idea behind Le Fanfare?
All the concepts behind Le Fanfare are about simplicity. We want to offer the easiest and most relaxing experience to our customers whose “work” is to enjoy the food.
What is your goal with Le Fanfare?
We simply want to offer the best combination between food and ambience based on the maniacal choice of ingredients and our amazing staff. That’s why we chose to look for local suppliers and Italian ingredients, making whatever we can in-house, from pasta to desserts.
How would you describe your approach to food and cooking?
A balanced mix between tradition and modernity, melting the influence of our Italian/Sardinian origin with American flavor and taste, creating a modern Italian culinary experience.
How did you conceive of a menu that is delicious, yet good value?
The choice of ingredients is our “obsession”, from vegetables to meat, seafood, and so on. We strongly believe that our quality standard starts from them and our main goal is to offer amazing dishes to our customers that are simple at the same time.
What is the dish to order at Le Fanfare?
It’s not easy to find only a dish to order, but if I have to recommend something, I would recommend our pasta for sure, and among them pappardelle with duck, and our sweet potato agnolotti.
The freshness of the pasta, the ingredients, and the preparation guarantee an amazing result, rich in flavor and fragrance.
What price range can customers expect at Le Fanfare?
The average per person is between $40-$50.
When is the best time to stop by?
I would recommend coming during the weekdays when it’s quieter to enjoy a more relaxing dinner since the weekend could be pretty busy.
