MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

This seafood-focused haunt comes courtesy of the team behind La Vara, which is also housed next door. Expect imaginative items with global ingredients, clever touches and vibrant flavors. Divided into three sections—snacks, chilled and hot—most of the plates are small and shareable. Scallop tacos sub in shiso leaves for tortillas, fried saltines with fluke crudo are a hit, and dessert imbued with salt are all proof positive that this kitchen isn’t afraid to break the rules. There is also everything from octopus carpaccio and hamachi collar to updated classics like a crispy tuna bake—an upmarket and creative version of Mom’s tuna noodle casserole. The interesting wine list is arranged by the sea that lines the coast where the grapes are grown.
