MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Belinda Leong and Michel Suas have long been recognized as Bay Area pastry royalty, so naturally this foray into sit-down dining (located next door to their much-acclaimed B. Patisserie) is a treat. To sweeten the pot even further, they tapped JP Carmona, formerly chef de cuisine at Manresa, to lead the kitchen.

The result is a welcoming neighborhood spot serving French bistro fare with a distinct Californian accent. A seemingly casual approach belies serious culinary sophistication in dishes like a hot-and-cold composition of crisp, buttery potato pavé topped with sweet Dungeness crab in an herby, lemony mayonnaise. In addition, fantastic seasonal produce and bold flavors are hallmarks year-round; so, it should go without saying, save room for dessert.
