5 Bangkok Restaurants With Stunning Views

"Eating with your eyes first" takes on new meaning at these Bangkok restaurants.

Dining in Bangkok comes with more than scrumptious food and drinks—a number of restaurants in the city's MICHELIN Guide come with unrivaled views and ambience. From panoramic views of beautiful architectural skyscrapers to sunset scenes of the Chao Phraya River, these restaurants offer a tantalizing glimpse of Bangkok as you dine.

Le Normandie

Two Stars

Le Normandie at the Mandarin Oriental features a luxurious setting with a true Parisienne ambience. Since its establishment in 1958, the restaurant has been renowned for its contemporary French cuisine, five-star service and awe-inspiring view out across the Chao Phraya River. Chef de cuisine Arnaud Dunand Sauthier, who has honed his culinary skills since he was eight years of age, took the helm of the kitchen brigade in 2012. With his culinary identity rooted in his native Savoy region in the French Alps and in the coasts of Brittany, he has brought ingredients from his hometown to put modern spins on classic recipes. Enjoy a wide selection of haute dishes, wines and the river glimmering in the moonlight.

Mezzaluna

Two Stars

Situated inside the golden dome on the 65th floor of Lebua Hotel, this contemporary restaurant offers a panoramic view of the city’s horizons—featuring both city and river views. Mezzaluna serves haute cuisine created by Japanese chef Ryuki Kawasaki, who specializes in French cuisine and learned cutting-edge culinary techniques from master chefs around the world including Paul Bocuse, Pierre Gagnaire and Joël Robuchon. The dishes are made of Japanese ingredients from chef Ryuki’s hometown such as sazae (sea snail), ayu (a type of fish) and Niigata Murakami A5 wagyu beef. Apart from the food, Mezzaluna offers several wines from Italy, France, New Zealand, Austria, Portugal and Japan to pair with the seven-course menu.

La VIE

The Plate

Located in the heart of the city center, La VIE on the 11th floor of VIE Hotel Bangkok is where the view is complemented by contemporary French-Japanese cuisine. Dishes are inspired by the guest chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants who cook at the restaurant regularly throughout the year. Fresh ingredients are a top priority here, with the menu constantly adapting to the seasonal availability of produce from local farmers’ markets and ingredients shipped in from both Japan and France. Bonus: a lot of herbs and vegetables are grown in the hotel’s rooftop garden—so freshness is guaranteed.

Supanniga Eating Room (Tha Tian)

The Plate

Supanniga Eating Room’s riverfront restaurant is located opposite of the Temple of Dawn where you can catch the warm rays of the setting sun. The Thai restaurant serves several types of food with authentic Thai flavors—with all signature dishes inspired by recipes of the owner’s grandmother. (Think moo ca muang, a time-honored dish of stewed pork with herbs and cha muang leaves.) For special occasions, board an evening Supanniga River Cruise along the Chao Phraya River where you can experience views of the illuminated temples and bridges along the way while feasting on a gourmet meal from the Supanniga kitchen. Or, simply sip on Champagne during the cruise and get off at the port in front of Supanniga to eat at the restaurant.

Scarlett

The Plate

Sitting on the 37th floor of Pullman Bangkok Hotel G in Silom, Scarlett is a modern, casual restaurant where diners can enjoy French and European traditional dishes with the stunning Bangkok skyline as the backdrop. Sit at the terrace for an unparalleled view of the city, relax with a curated cocktail and enjoy the sun sinking slowly over the horizon. One of the signatures at the restaurant is steak, which is imported from Australia and Japan and dry-aged for six weeks to deliver a deeper umami flavor.
