The Plate • Fresh ingredients, carefully prepared: a good meal

At Big Jones, guests are greeted with a “Guide to Good Drinking”: a menu that includes barrel-aged punch selections and an impressive lineup of Bourbon and whiskey. Between that, the high bar tables, and plush velvet touches, this is a guaranteed good time. Yes, it’s no front porch in Louisiana, but it’s certainly close. The menu is filled with dishes that reach back in Southern history and the service staff loves to dive into ancient detail. But this does not mean that the delicious cuisine doesn't explain itself: one may look forward to the likes of homemade pimento cheese with out-of-this-world Tasso ham cured in-house; or spot-on crawfish étouffee swimming with butter and wine and served atop a fluffy mound of spicy, smoky Braggadocio rice.
