The Best Hotels in Athens: All the MICHELIN Keys

Every MICHELIN Key hotel in Athens, handpicked by our Inspectors.

The ancient Greek concept of philoxenia — heartfelt hospitality — drives Athens' hotel culture. From glamour on the riviera to wellness boutiques, the lively capital offers plenty of lodgings unique enough to earn a MICHELIN Key. The most spectacular hotels are awarded One to Three Keys for exceptional style, service and sense of place, and Athens is home to nine. Below, the best of the best places to stay in Athens, according to our Inspectors.

Any hotel granted Three MICHELIN Keys serves as a destination unto itself. Four Seasons Astir Palace is the sole Three Key hotel in Athens — set on a lush, pine-covered peninsula on the sun-drenched Saronic Gulf in Vouliagmeni. Luxury suites may include private pools, the many dining options feature the One MICHELIN-starred restaurant Pelagos, and three beaches are reserved exclusively for guests. A true Aegean sanctuary.

Two MICHELIN Key hotels promise exceptional stays — and Athens has two. The opulent Hotel Grande Bretagne has hosted guests for more than150 years, particularly famed for panoramic views of the Acropolis and proximity to the best of local life. Its location on Syntagma Square puts Athens' famous flea markets, museums and luxury shopping within walking distance. The rooftop restaurant is a local favorite for both cuisine and views.

The Dolli at Acropolis is a restored neoclassical mansion with contemporary flair and curated artwork. Located on Mitropoleos Street, between old town Plaka and Monastiraki, the hotel offers easy access to both neighborhoods. The rooftop pool is ideal for unwinding with a cocktail after sightseeing, with unobstructed views of the Parthenon.

Six hotels gained One MICHELIN Key in Athens, each featuring a distinctly unique sense of place.

Anthology of Athens is an eco-friendly boutique ideally located between the Acropolis and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. Its design-forward suites include private balconies or city views, and the rooftop pool offers panoramic Acropolis vistas.

For travelers seeking culinary immersion, two standout options await. Ergon House Athens offers stylish rooms above a vibrant, modern agora  a Greek indoor marketplace — where artisan grocers, specialty shops and a renowned restaurant are steps away. The hotel's philosophy is rooted in farm-to-table traditions, emphasizing local suppliers and experiential gastronomy. Guests can also enjoy communal kitchens and a rooftop with Acropolis views. At Xenodocheio Milos, the first luxury gastronomy hotel in Greece and created by the world-renowned estiatorio Milos fine-dining group, food is, of course integral, to the experience — guests can indulge in Mediterranean cuisine crafted from the freshest seasonal ingredients from morning to night.

Ernst Ziller designed Monument, a landmark, 19th-century mansion turned luxury boutique hotel in the bohemian Psirri district. Its nine rooms feature high ceilings and contemporary Scandinavian style, with a standout private wellness area that includes a sauna and hammam for exclusive guest use.

The industrial-chic atmosphere at Not Hotel blends historic charm with modern amenities. Premium bedding includes hypoallergenic linens, and bathrooms feature biological bath products. All guests have access to the central garden that spans 500-square-meters.

Just south of the city is One&Only Aesthesis, a mid-century Riviera seaside resort located in Glyfada on the Athenian Riviera, with airy bungalows and garden villas built with eco-friendly materials surrounded by a carefully preserved natural environment. Sustainable luxury is woven into each feature, from products at the exclusive Guerlain Spa to restaurants that source local, seasonal ingredients locally. A true escape — the resort includes both a private beachfront and lush Mediterranean gardens.
