Rekem, one of the oldest, most authentic villages of Belgium, is rife in nostalgia, further accentuated by the collection of Fiat 500s mustered in front of Le Philippe. Danny Vanderhoven will win you over with his distinctive spin on bistronomic classics: frog’s legs in a creamy tomato, garlic and mild red pepper sauce, or slowly simmered melt-in-the-mouth beef bourguignon served with fries cooked in beef tallow, (which is the only way they should ever be fried!).
