Come June, Michelin Guide Seoul will present a special fine dining extravaganza in collaboration with some of the city’s most celebrated chefs. A total of 11 starred restaurants featured in the 2018 Michelin Guide Seoul will participate in the ‘2018 Michelin Guide Seoul’s Starred Chefs Showcase’, slated to take place from June 18 to July 15.
The restaurants will take turns offering a special tasting menu designed specifically for the event. They include 3-star Korean restaurant La Yeon (Korean), 2-star restaurants Kwon Sook Soo (Korean), Gotgan (Korean), and Jungsik (Korean Contemporary), and 1-star restaurants Dining in Space (French Contemporary), Dosa (Innovative), Joo Ok (Korean Contemporary), L’Amitié (French), Mingles (Korean Contemporary), Ristorante EO (Italian Contemporary), and Votre Maison (French COntemporary).
Restaurant weeks are counted among the highlights of the annual calendar in culinary destinations like New York, London, Singapore and Tokyo, and are hugely popular among food lovers who gladly travel overseas just to eat. Naturally, the upcoming showcase, the first of its kind to be organized by the Michelin Guide Seoul, is creating much buzz in the local dining scene.
Marketing director at Michelin Guide Seoul says, “The showcase is expected to give an extra boost to Seoul’s fine-dining scene, which has been quantitatively and qualitatively growing in recent years. The event will be an exciting opportunity for both local and foreign food lovers to enjoy the world-class dining experience Seoul has to offer.”
For the participating restaurants, the upcoming event is about more than just promoting their businesses. The chefs have expressed enthusiasm over the prospect of engaging in friendly rivalry with fellow Michelin-starred chefs by way of showcasing their signature styles and flavors. Michelin Guide Seoul says the ultimate goal of the event is to help enrich the city’s ever-growing culinary landscape.
Reservations can be made on Naver’s booking site via the Michelin Guide Seoul’s website and by contacting the restaurants.
The month-long event will be held in collaboration with Michelin Guide Seoul’s official partners. As part of the showcase, Genesis plans to invite customers to take part in G70 test drives while Nespresso will work with five restaurants (Dining in Space, Joo Ok, Jungsik, L’Amitié, Votre Maison) to create special desserts that will be offered as a part of the restaurants’ tasting menus. Champagne house Taittinger, Vitis Wine and Tavalon Tea will also be offering exclusive pairings with participating chefs to elevate the overall dining experience.
