MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

This is ‘Kyoto Chinese’ without the garlic so as to appeal to geisha and maiko. Avoiding lard, too, is so that no smells cling to kimono. The food here is about gentle flavours; chicken broth is used throughout and spices are kept to a minimum. Kujo leek and mapo tofu and the crab omelette on rice are very Kyoto. Senjafuda slips used as business cards by the geisha or maiko are posted on the pillars; their number shows the depth of support for this restaurant.
